Help Offset League Costs

Prospective Owner Application

Welcome to the Carolina and Atlantic Fantasy Football Leagues.  From this area you will be given the opportunity to apply for ownership of a league team.  There are currently no openings in either the CFFL or AFFL.  The leagues have a very low turnover.  Between the two leagues and a combined thirteen seasons of play, there have been only seven owner replacements after the half-way point of each leagues' inaugural season.  In total, there have been twelve replacement owners in the history of the leagues.

By completing an application for membership, you will be adding yourself to the pool of prospective new owners who are on a waiting list to acquire a CFFL or AFFL team.  By completing the application process, you are not guaranteed ownership of a team at any time.  Ownership is granted at the league commissioner's discretion, and his decisions are final.

You will also be added to the mailing list for prospective new owners.  The league commissioner may send out occassional emails to prospective owners on the waiting list with information about the leagues or to inquire about continuing interest in joining either of the leagues.

The Carolina and Atlantic Fantasy Football Leagues are completely free.  There are no entry fees or league dues for playing at this time.  Nor are there any fees for completing transactions.  However, there are also no prizes to be given away.  As a team owner, you will be playing for fun and pride.

Despite having no league dues (or more correctly, because there are no league dues), there are other requirements that owners are expected to follow.  Failure to abide by these requirements will result in the expulsion of a team owner.

Requirements:

  1. Team Logo

Each team is required to send to the league commissioner a team logo.  The logo should be a around 120 x 120 pixels (although it can be resized, so as long as it is roughly square it should be fine).  It should also be preferably in either .GIF or .JPEG format (again, conversion of formats may be possible).  The image can be made by yourself, or something that you found and modified for your own purposes.  If you have trouble finding/creating a logo, you may ask the league commissioner for assistance in this matter.

You will not be asked to submit a logo until you are selected to take over a team, and you should not submit one until that time.

  2. Owner Participation

Participation is a must in a fantasy football league.  If you don't plan on participating, don't bother applying for a team.  You will be expected to play week-to-week.  Submitting weekly starting lineups is the most important aspect of this and it will be how the league commissioner generally guages your participation.  If your idea of playing in a fantasy football league entails playing up until the point you are eliminated from playoff contention, you should find another league.

  3. Familiarity With Rules

You will be expected to read the league rules, and to at least have a working understanding of them.  You won't be expected to be an expert, but you will be expected to know them well enough to know what you can and can not do. It is advised that you print out the final version of the league rules prior to the beginning of the season for future reference. Violations of league rules will not be tolerated, nor will unsportsmanlike conduct. The league commissioner will take sanctions against owners who violate the league rules or bring the league into disrepute.

  4. Awareness of Deadlines

Since games come around every week, there is a time crunch for the league commissioner to perform his duties.  Therefore, the league owners must be able to stick to tight deadlines in order to make sure that things run smoothly.  If you can't live up to deadlines, you are going to have a hard time managing your team.

  5. Prescence for the League Draft

You will be required to attend the league draft, conducted in real-time over the Internet on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon or evening (US Eastern time) in August.  When asked by the commissioner, you will be expected to inform him of dates and times when you will be able to participate in the league draft.  You will be expected to be present for the draft at the specified time and date.  If you are not present, you will forfeit your ownership rights.  The draft will be conducted using AOL Instant Messenger, and should be expected to take about 2 to 3 hours.

Before continuing, please be sure you will be able to live up to these standards.  If you can not, you should look for another league.  If you think you can abide by these expectations, click the button below to continue to the application form.
