Help Offset League Costs

Making a Donation to the League

The costs for running the league have certainly increased over the last couple of years.  For the 1998-2001 seasons, the cost for running the league was just $35/year (the cost of the FanStar software).  In 2002, in order to improve the league by making it more efficient, streamlined, and flexible, we abandoned FanStar in favor of raw stats and a custom-built Perl/CGI system created by yours truly.  The cost thereby increased to $50 dollars for the 2002 season.

In 2003, we again made another major improvement by redesigning the website to make it more integrated, removing the last vestiges of the 1998-2001 seasons where the website was half created by the FanStar software/half created by me.  And, by moving away from the free servers of VirtualAvenue.net to a paid shared-server host, we have a private, easy-to-remember domain name for the league.  Add to that... no more of those damned pop-up ads!

But the improvements have not come without a cost.  The current host provides a great deal on it's hosting package, which is the primary reason I chose it.  Because this year the league renewed its hosting services, the priced dropped from $65 last season to $50 for 2004.  However, at $50/year it is still much more expensive than the 1998-2002 expenditure of $0 for hosting.

The total cost for the Carolina and Atlantic leagues for 2005 is estimated to be $100.  Because the expenditure budget has swelled considerably over the last couple of years, I have decided to allow league owners to make donations to help cover the cost.

  2. The maximum contribution a team owner may make in a season is $10.
  3. Contributions are not required, but greatly appreciated.
  4. Contributions will be solely used to offset league costs; they will not be used for an end-of-season reward or pot.
  5. Making a contribution does not entitle a team owner to have more say in league affairs.  Likewise, not making a contribution does not mean a team owner will have less say in league affairs.
  6. No further contributions will be accepted once all costs have been accounted for.
